Born in Poland, Wroclaw. He studied computer science at the University of Saarland (Germany), where he graduated in 1993. Afterwards, he became a PhD student at the Department of Neural Information Processing, University of Ulm. During this time he studied as well philosophy, existentialism and ethics. He received a PhD in computer science in 2000 with his work on associative computation.

Andreas is Professor at the IST – University of Lisbon. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computation.
